What a Week

The CRAZY week is finally behind me.  Holidays, bike rides, lots of rain and ladies night!  Monday was a small photo shoot after the boys went to the barber for a haircut.  They haven't had pictures taken in awhile, and with them gone some this summer it will be good for us to have photos of them around.  (Also extended family members needed new ones!)  The rest of the week is a blur, lots of things at home, lots fo things at work and finally Ladies Night. Ladies Night was a huge success with 35-40 women showing up and joining in on the fun.  Speakers from a couple local women's clubs, nutrition from Sarah at Cool Breeze, yoga and stretching from Christy McCormick and finally Ross from Trek talking about WSD, fit and all those things. (photos to come.)

Rain or Shine

[gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Yesterday was crap for weather, all of Memorial Day weekend was crap for weather but business was good at the shop and the boys/I found things to do around the house yesterday until the sun came out. First off I learned how to play NBA2009 on the Play Station and then we built a very very large tent in the family room utilizing a 10foot Kryptonite cable lock, used bike tubes and lots of blankets/sheets.  It was a good morning and afternoon spent home with the boys on a holiday off from work (hooray!) We decided to stay close to home for Memorial Day eve as the storm clouds rolled through and kept many BBQ'ers at bay.  Driving a short stint down 115 we found ourselves in Davidson and at a good hang out with a friend, their friends and family. Nothing like crashing a BBQ last moment.  Stealing their coals on the Weber we grilled some chicken, played baseball and jump rope then headed back home.

A Small Thought

[gallery order="DESC" orderby="post_name"] Browsing through photos quickly before we dash off to a BBQ.   A few hikes and camping trips are going to be planned.  Short ones for now, leave Saturday night after work, hike, camp and then return back the next evening.  Could do the same on bike too.  Pedal out to somewhere, return in the morning.  Easy, simple.. now to get the girl up to speed.

Milk, Brownies & Training Plan

[gallery order="DESC" columns="5" orderby="post_name"] No, milk, brownies & training plans normally don't go together.  But they are because the brownies need to be out of the house by tonight if I want to keep motivated and charging ahead on riding/training. Memorial Day, a day off and a good day spent with the boys.  The rain on and off will keep BBQ's indoors and grills cooled off.  We'll see where the afternoon leads us.

Bicycles, Lot-sa Bicycles

[gallery link="file" order="DESC" columns="2" orderby="post_name"] I have a mental list lining up somewhere in my brain of how I want my garage/shop lined up, which bikes I want built and how I want them built with what I have in stock in the shop.  Then there's a wish list of bikes and parts for myself but with the budget as tight as violin strings we will make use of what we got. This afternoon I took the time to take apart the XO-1 cross bike as it will become a v-brake 29x1.5 monster bike soon.  The purple Raleigh is getting rebuilt fixie style once I find proper brake stradle cable for the old school center pull brakes.  The Salsa Casseroll will become my road bike once I find the proper front derailleur and new cable/housing, the 6000 will get gears again and the Karate Monkey just needs a new front tire.  Also in that the Xtracycle needs to be put back together for grocery hauling and to get ready for riding down to the Davidson Concert on the Green this summer. In the garage I need to mount the 2x4 to the wall so all our bikes can go up nicely and then also purchase a 2nd lower one so the kids can put theirs up.  Take the work stuff to offsite storage (big seat from the work van and a large xmas tree.) And work on getting the furniture from Kim's old house sold or somewhere other than the garage! A lot of things to do, and right now I just want to ride my BIKE!

Ladies Night Next Week

North Meck is North Root

[gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Race report to come but for now I leave you with an awesome video from Tom Matthews of the Tarheel Trailblazers.

You Are My Sunshine..

[gallery order="DESC" orderby="post_name"] Flowers made me happy yesterday so we will continue on to photos that make me happy. Today we have "sky photos."  I've always loved the sky, sunset's and lighthouses.  Even when I was in 4th grade I remember painting furniture in my room (why did you let me do that mom?) with lighthouses, storm clouds and sea life. Tomorrow we may start moving on to various bikes that make me happy, but tomorrow is race day and I may be in "race mode."  Regardless, come hang out at North Meck park tomorrow 6:15pm, heckle me and drink some drinks, grill some hamburgers.

Dreary Day

[gallery link="file" order="DESC" orderby="post_name"] It's grey and rainy outside as a pick me up I pulled some flower photos from my archives.   This weekend I'll be off, I have a high hope of finding a garden somewhere to take tons of photos. Anyone in Charlotte know of a good one that is in bloom right now?

Downtown Mooresville

[gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Friday morning I got my list of things I needed to get done, loaded up my Minnehaha pack and headed off to old downtown Mooresville.  Downtown Mooresville is exactly what you think of little old town.  The train runs through the center city, there are beautiful historic buildings lining main street.  A coffee shop that old guys hang out at and talk gossip as folks drive past.  I haven't been able to walk around the "Strip" yet.  I have my places to stop like Bank of America to deposit money, LKN Sk8 to check out their kids decks, La Patisserie for a latte or delicious desserts and then back home. Today I took a side road off the main street and it ended me on this gorgeous southern street with flowers covering all the houses. The houses were ranging from little 1940's bungolows to huge historic homes with eve's and widows watches.  Unfortunately I only had my long lense so I couldn't capture the long street well but I will be back soon.
