Saving Weight on Your Bike

January 30th, 2010 § 0

Where should you start with saving weight on your bike?

#1 Rotating Weight

Wheels go first, doable look your tire setup then cranks.

#2 Base Components

Handlebar, stem, seat post

#3 Lastly

Replace wear items last, I try to save weight where I can but don’t put on the lightest headset and bottom bracket if I’m going to wear through them twice as fast.

Lab Gear on the Way

Lab Gear

Lab Gear Long Sleeve

I was approached by G of Lab Gear to go through the order process of designing and processing clothing especially made for me, by me!  Lab Gear, all natural clothing based out of Australia, is doing clothing a bit differently it seems.  I’ve been following the main guy, G, on twitter now for awhile.  We talk back and forth, he gives feedback about various Bike Shop Girl articles, and shop happenings.

They’ve been working on this women’s line “99 for a while and I was excited to be a tester for  not only the product, but the whole order process of designing the shirts to fit my personality and body type.  Because of this, the order has to be custom cut and built for me, plus the shipping from Australia may take a week by itself.  For now I’m a kid waiting for christmas and one of those little packages to show up at my door.

Meeting Monday at BikeShopGirl

September 21st, 2009 § 0

Meeting Monday will be an on going series of meeting various women in the cycling industry. Learn about their experiences, history and what they are doing to make cycling better for all women. If you are interested in being apart of this or have an idol that you think fits the bill, please let me know!

1st in our series is a very inspirational person to me, Elly Blue. Elly is the managing editor of BikePortland.org, a Portland, OR based website that follows all things cycling around the city. Originally this site was started by Jonathon Maus back in 2005, it now is a power house in the cycling blogging community.
