Birthday Weekend
As this Monday is ending I am left reflecting on the weekend that passed. Normally I am left on a Monday looking forward to the next weekend, counting the days or hours until I am broken free and can play for 2.5 days straight.
This past weekend was a special weekend of sorts. You see it was my birthday. Birthdays are unique for me as every year I am learning to treat them a bit better.
This year I was surrounded by my family - my parents drove down from MD, my girlfriend and on Sunday the kids.
I raced my bike on Sunday on the hardest cyclocross course of my life. On Saturday we watched football, ate amazing sushi and I drank a couple really good beers. Ending the weekend with goodbyes to my parents as they drove home, and a really good pot of stuffing for dinner. (One of my favorite foods.)
Birthdays are more of a reminder than a celebration in my mind. They remind me to be a better person and to try to make this coming year better than the one that past.
