Killing Cars and Winning Time

Commute is in full effect every day. Lights charging, blinky lights checked and happy to say that I'm rolling. Limited time and more important roles have kept me off the CX bike this fall. Rocking the Casseroll and full fenders thanks to the rain all week.

BMX Bikes are Landing

There is no hiding the fact that I've been trying to "rip it up" at the local BMX track.  Our 8 year old has really gotten into it, and the fact that I've been helping everyone out there with mechanical help too. The shop has allowed me to pull in a small order of Redline bikes to see if we can get some kids out in a new sport.  So let's take a look at what we'll have in this coming Thursday.

Race Day

I skipped a day somehow in there.  Meaning to post last night, but time went by quickly and I lost my energy to write at all. [gallery order="DESC"] Last night I hit up the "off road" commute home.  If I make a turn down an old gravel road, it allows me to ride next to the railroad tracks and then next to Lowe's Corporate Headquarters.  During rush hour this is a key move so that I'm not upsetting car drivers sitting in bumper traffic on a 2 lane road as I fly by.  The ride is also more enjoyable and seems to shave time off. I also swapped my flat bars off the Casseroll to put back on the Misfit Fu2Bar.  I'm really contemplating wrapping the whole bar to make more hand positions available. Review of the Fu2Bar coming!

It's Official

I'm signed up for the tri.   Or I should say Kimberlee kicked my ass into gear and signed me up!  Time to start running, and more importantly swimming! Swim cap and swimming goggles are needed...

Good Morning

Media_httpfarm4static_silaz
A short, yet busy, week is slowly wrapping up.  One last day to work (today) and then I'm off Wednesdays through next Tuesday.  The purpose is to go home to Maryland, attend a wedding, and maybe get some bike riding in. (That's the goal atleast.)

There have been many changes in life recently.  All very good, nothing very major, and I'm excited to see what this summer will bring.  Hopefully more time with family, more time on the bike and continuing to push the bike industry around my region.  Starting June 29th I'll be back at the Cool Breeze location for many reasons.  A few were things that have been in the works since we opened the Trek Store 20 miles away.  Partly commuting time, lack of riding time, lack of family time but I also will be stepping into a larger purpose.  A role of high end fitting, more custom bike design and hopefully going to push the mountain bike/commuting niche in the Lake Norman area. In other news, I've changed the shops blog to something both stores can share.  Please update your shop blog URL to CoolBreezeCyclery.blogspot.com.

Bike Rides

[gallery order="DESC" orderby="post_name"] Have been able to squeeze in a few good rides in the past week.  Between commuting and little loops around Mooresville/ Davidson area it's been a good week.  Working on my cycling tan, and also working on getting rid of the cycling tan while out on the boat/pool!  Hope to get in another decent loop this morning after I run errands into Charlotte.

Rain or Shine

[gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Yesterday was crap for weather, all of Memorial Day weekend was crap for weather but business was good at the shop and the boys/I found things to do around the house yesterday until the sun came out. First off I learned how to play NBA2009 on the Play Station and then we built a very very large tent in the family room utilizing a 10foot Kryptonite cable lock, used bike tubes and lots of blankets/sheets.  It was a good morning and afternoon spent home with the boys on a holiday off from work (hooray!) We decided to stay close to home for Memorial Day eve as the storm clouds rolled through and kept many BBQ'ers at bay.  Driving a short stint down 115 we found ourselves in Davidson and at a good hang out with a friend, their friends and family. Nothing like crashing a BBQ last moment.  Stealing their coals on the Weber we grilled some chicken, played baseball and jump rope then headed back home.

Downtown Mooresville

[gallery order="DESC" columns="4" orderby="post_name"] Friday morning I got my list of things I needed to get done, loaded up my Minnehaha pack and headed off to old downtown Mooresville.  Downtown Mooresville is exactly what you think of little old town.  The train runs through the center city, there are beautiful historic buildings lining main street.  A coffee shop that old guys hang out at and talk gossip as folks drive past.  I haven't been able to walk around the "Strip" yet.  I have my places to stop like Bank of America to deposit money, LKN Sk8 to check out their kids decks, La Patisserie for a latte or delicious desserts and then back home. Today I took a side road off the main street and it ended me on this gorgeous southern street with flowers covering all the houses. The houses were ranging from little 1940's bungolows to huge historic homes with eve's and widows watches.  Unfortunately I only had my long lense so I couldn't capture the long street well but I will be back soon.
